Blu Grotto Cafe Bar Baroona Rd

Blu Grotto Cafe Bar Baroona Rd

This eclectic venue is a dependable choice for tasty food, from salads and wraps to hearty steaks from the chargrill. Aside from satisfying the stomach, this groovy spot entertains with neon-lit decor, pumping house music and cocktails.

Not the discovery, but the revelation of the "Blu Grotto" is to be credited to the romantic disposition of two German tourists who visited Capri in 1826: Augustus Kopisch, a writer, and Ernst Fries, a painter.

The Grotta was, however, already known locally as "Grotta Gradola", the name being taken from the neighbouring ancient landing place of Gradola and Gradelle, even though it was avoided as a weird and bewitched place not so much because of its narrow access, as because of the legends about monsters and witches that dwelt in it….

The Blu Grotto in Rosalie village is inspired by this natural phenomenon. A dark cavernous opening reveals a mystery of relaxation, fine food and great service. The Blu Grotto has occupied the prime position overlooking the passing parade of trendy Rosalie Village for eight years. The ambience is relaxed and the food affordable and unpretentious modern Australian with Mediterranean and Asian influences.

Whether you are looking for a coffee, cake, cocktail, beer, wine, juice, full meal or share plate from 11.00 weekdays (Excl Mon & Tue) and 8.00 am Sundays until late, then Blu Grotto is the destination for you.

Vine Caffe Restaurant and Bar Moray St

A great modern bistro with Italian flair, Vine offers a cafe menu during the day and modern Italian dishes with provincial specials at night. The dark polished wood furniture and chocolate leather banquettes complement the renaissance-style artworks and add to the Italian bistro feel. The field mushroom bruschetta is a tasty variation on a familiar starter while dishes like the gnocchi in a Napolitana sauce with sheep's milk ricotta are excellent to follow. KGB Urban is a bistro-style restaurant situated opposite the Village Markets in Kelvin Grove. With the name a referring to the infamous Russian secret police, it' s apt that the setting is quite industrial. The exposed pipes ad
orning the ceilings and walls, floor-to-ceiling dark wooden beams, concrete floor and bright red feature walls will have you yelling ' long live Lenin! ' in no time. Couple your new enthusiasm for Russian Communism with the most popular dish for either lunch or dinner - the grilled vegetable fettuccini served with basil pesto and parmesan.

Louey's Italian Restaurant Rotherham St

Louey's Italian Restaurant Rotherham St

Frenchified fine diner SaVini has been reborn with new owners and a new Italian focus. Though the name might conjure up visions of a casual space complete with red chequered tablecloths and a jovial pizza maker, Louey's hasn't lost its slightly formal edge. The linen-draped tables remain, washed by the balmy Queensland air coming in through the open sides, but the space has been enhanced by a large lounge area. This is packed with bar tables where barflies can nibbles on Italian-style snacks. Those who opt for the whole sit-down deal can choose from traditional Italian mains, from osso bucco to gourmet thin-crust pizzas.

Viale Canova Ristorante Sandgate Rd

Viale Canova Ristorante Sandgate Rd

Lorenzo Spezzamonte and Massimo Bortolazzo have brought authentic Italian cuisine all the way from Venice to Brisbane, Australia.
Arriving in 2002 Lorenzo and Massimo have together created a unique fine dining experience. Some of you ay have had the pleasure of tasting Lorenzo's fresh pasta, made every day.
"Viale Canova" is set to score full marks, not only for the food, but also for the friendly service and special atmosphere. The candlelit restaurant has an intimate and homely feel, similar to a family dining room, with beautiful artwork on its walls supplied by Oriel Gallery.
Soft music plays in the background. There may be a harpist, there may be a Carnivale, a fashion show or a masked evening - you never know what will happen next, but keep in touch to find out what special events are taking place.
It has always been Lorenzo's dream to open his own restaurant. Finally, in November 2004 that dream became reality when he opened "Viale Canova" with his partner Massimo.
Both come from Borso del Grappa, a little town close to the famous Bassano del Grappa and Possagno. This area is well known for the fame of sculptor Antonio Canova, born in Possagno in the 18th century. His classical, monumental sculpture overlooking Venice is one of his most visited artworks.
"Viale Canova's" logo is a tribute to the remarkable Canova, being a representation of the temple designed and built by Canova for his final resting place.
His talent will live forever. "Viale Canova", the restaurant is dedicated to providing a "Canovian" atmosphere for all family and festive occasions.

Sugo Mi Oxford Street

Sugo Mi Oxford Street

We ordered a simple Margherita from the Rosso list so we could really taste the sugo and it was impressive. Sweet in a savoury way, it had the best and most vivid qualities of a proper, almost drinkable homemade tomato sauce, requiring only the starchy, charry base and the jolt of anise from the basil to break its richness.
All this from a pizza – that is the glory of simplicity

Dell’Ugo New Farm Brunswick Street

Dell’ Ugo serves cut-above, authentic Italian dishes in a buzzy dining block along New Farm’s major approach road. It absorbs the character of the street, so it’s fun and lively on a Friday evening – it’s not the place for a love tryst – and at lunchtime more redolent of Italy: vital and indulgent. Although the mood is open and inclusive, part of the dining area can be enclosed around a square table for a group of up to 22. Daily specials such as linguine alla vongole are recommended because the star ingredients always shine. That said, it would be a shame not to explore the menu. Cafe Fuscia Wardell Street

Cafe Fuscia Wardell Street

At Fuscia we start at the beginning of the pizza dynasty. The place is Naples, Italy. The year is 997AD. A round dough is covered with herbs and spices and baked in a wood-fire oven. The Romans called it Foccacia. This ancient and basic method of cookery is still used with our authentic wood-fire oven. We concentrate on a combination of high quality ingredients so you can enjoy fresh wholesome food prepared according to ancient traditions.
At Fuscia, we strive to take you on a fascinating gastronomic tour visting the flavours of Italy. Influences from Piedmont in the North, right down to Puglia & Calabria in the South are conveyed throughout our menu. The menu at Fuscia we believe reflects the essence of the regionality of Italian cookery and also provides an insight into the characteristics of Italys regional cookery.
The menu at Fuscia will play to the seasons, it is our aim to provide a simple food experience that will surpass your expectations. LOVE the Team.

Biagio Brunswick Street

Biagio Brunswick Street

An injection of fresh energy will hit Red Hill’s dining scene in July, as new owners rebrand the restaurant that once housed the Fish Grotto. Chef Biagio Biuso, originally from Sicily, comes to us from Zolli’s Trattoria, Townsville. He and wife Sarah have given their new restaurant a smart, elegant fit-out featuring a black marble bar, white linen tablecloths and black leather chairs. The a la carte menu will focus on seafood, and Biagio’s pasta al pistachio (with crispy pancetta) comes recommended.

Bellaggio Woodfired Pizzeria and Ristorante Brunswick Street

Bellaggio Woodfired Pizzeria and Ristorante Brunswick Street

With a little taste of Italy in every dish, Bellagio has stood the test of time in New Farm and is a popular spot for both newcomers and return diners. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and has a great open window looking onto Brunswick Street, perfect for a sultry Brisbane summer afternoon. The restaurant is comprised of indoor, outdoor and courtyard dining sections, and can cater for up to 200 people. The kitchen is made complete with a traditional wood-fired oven as its centrepiece. It burns western Ipswich ironbark which sets the oven at the necessary temperature while adding a unique taste to the pizzas. The traditional method of preparing these signature pies has remained intact and is just as important as the careful selection of toppings coupled with the right balance of quantity. All too often a pizza’s real flavour can be lost among a myriad of over-compensating toppings, leaving your tastebuds not quite sure which flavour was what. Here the bases are made daily and according to an authentic recipe – the result is a thin, crispy and delectable base that complements the fresh ingredients well.

Diners can choose from a range of interesting Italian-style antipastos and breads to kick off their meal. One starter of particular interest is the prosciutto, melone e ricotta fritta which is comprised of prosciutto crudo served with fresh rockmelon balls alongside deep-fried ricotta and rocket. Follow with a mazzicante pizza with provolone, truffle oil and mushrooms, or the nonno nicola with salsa pomodoro, mozzarella, funghi, grilled zucchini, truffle oil, bocconcini and prosciutto crudo. For those who can appreciate a great pizza, Bellaggio embraces a home-style atmosphere with great traditional fare, and is a must for the to-do list.

Bar Alto Lamington Street

Bar Alto Lamington Street

Close your eyes, click your heels three times and say "there's no place like Sydney". Or just take the CityCat to New Farm Park, because in a town where a good water view is generally accompanied by a surf 'n' turf smorgasbord, and where dining at a performing arts venue is something you previously only did after a matinee with Nanna, Bar Alto is dramatically removed from your Brisbane preconceptions. On the first floor of the Powerhouse Live Arts Centre, with the precinct's trademark graffitied brick and concrete walls, it's also about as unpretentiously chic as it gets (on a council budget, anyway). The spectacularly open kitchen means there's as much theatre in the galley as there is on the stage outside, but the real star here is the food.
Head chef Pablo Tordesillas - formerly of Otto in Sydney - is Spanish, but the heart of his kitchen is unmistakably Italian. Raise a smug glass of Valpolicella to the folks aboard the Kookaburra Queen; exorcise your demons by devouring a voodoo-doll-like quail saltimbocca; or test your powers of strategy as you mobilise cutlery forces towards your partner's perfect goat ragu. If half a bottle of Chianti Classico doesn't get you giggling, then the ridiculously low prices will, and if there's a better restaurant manager than Rachael Duffield they must be working the floor at Alain Ducasse; with her at the helm, service is polished and friendly and standards never slip.

Avanti MacGregor TCE

Avanti MacGregor TCE

In the leafy suburb of Bardon, Avanti Cafe and Pasta Bar boasts that they have the “most extensive pasta menu that you have ever seen”, and I must admit they might just have me there. The menu features 35 a la carte pasta dishes that are prepared fresh to order, and not only do they serve a lot of pasta, they also offer a wide range of breads, dips, salads and mains totalling more
than 100 menu items. Just as well given that the spacious restaurant can seat around 140 people in the tropical alfresco courtyard dining area, making for a great atmosphere when it fills up on weekends.
The restaurant has
a pleasant, airy feel about it, with high ceilings, trendy red seating and views of MacGregor Terrace. It’s been turning out affordable Italian food since 1994, and while it may not be fine dining, it’s ideal for a quick feed and catch up with friends and has a long list of devoted locals. Highlights of the menu include the linguini frutti di mare (succulent seafood, fresh herbs, lemon juice and creamy garlic sauce) or the canelloni al basilico (cannelloni stuffed with ricotta, pine nuts, spinach and chicken mince in a fresh pesto sauce).

Cafe da Vinci Cambridge Parade

Sit up on the veranda of this little cafe, watch the morning sun rising and enjoy the gorgeous view of Moreton Bay. Although the name suggests Italian food on the menu, this is more of a modern Australian cafe experience, with a great breakfast menu including yummy coffee and fresh juice. A wonderful way to kick-start your day, the cafe also offers a nice way to end it, with dinner available three nights a week. While it might not have Da Vinci's genius, it makes up for it with pleasant enthusiasm.

Campos Wandoo Street

Campos Wandoo Street

Campos Coffee, as it is today, began in 2002. We purchased a tiny coffee business in the back lanes of Newtown, Sydney with one purpose- to create an establishment where every customer could be sure to receive an excellent coffee experience every single visit. All of us had been in the industry for quite some time- we had seen what happens when others cut corners to save a dollar- quality suffers, the company makes 2% more in profits, and focus is lost forever. Nothing could be depended upon and there was little integrity. We felt it was time to raise the espresso bar using this unrelenting focus to never compromise on anything.

Always updating, and always on the lookout for improvements- our work is never done here. If we are to be the cutting edge, we must never stop moving forward. This is a very exciting, young industry. Continuous improvement is a necessity and we are constantly upgrading our methods, beans and machines to ensure our customers will always receive the top experience as the Specialty Coffee industry grows and evolves. This website is here to help us convey what is happening in the Campos world.
