écco Bistro Boundary Street

écco Bistro Boundary Street

écco, a modern Australian bistro, is located on the city fringe of Brisbane's CBD. The bistro brought new life to a historic tea warehouse in a once un-fashionable district near the Story Bridge end of the City. When Philip Johnson took over the site, the ground floor was completely refurbished as a smart but unpretentious space, the perfect showcase for his distinctive cooking style...

To much anticipation by Philip Johnson's strong local following, écco opened its doors in 1995. Located in a brilliantly refurbished historic building on the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, the century old former tea warehouse has a bold and bright look with plenty of glass, salsa-red and aubergine-purple walls, polished Masonite floor, plain wood tables and chairs.

The écco menu is understated in print but totally stylish on the plate and the wine list as diverse as it is concise.

As Philip says "We do as little as possible with the best ingredients available."
